The only other scholarship quarterback behind starter Devin Gardner is sophomore Russell Bellomy, who is out for most of the season with a torn ACL. That has created an opening for the No. 2 spot, which could well be filled by the 6' 3" Morris, a Warren, Mich., native who was one of the nation's top pro-style QBs.
DE TACO CHARLTON PICKERINGTON CENTRAL HIGH
At 6' 6" and 265 pounds, Charlton, who hails from Pickerington, Ohio, has the size and strength to make an immediate impact on Michigan's depleted defensive line. He enrolled early and has added even more bulk to help him compete in the Big Ten.
TE JAKE BUTT PICKERINGTON NORTH HIGH
From the same hometown as Taco Charlton, the 6' 6" Butt was one of the top five tight end prospects in the country. He also enrolled early and has impressed Hoke with his route running and his hands, but he'll need to improve his blocking.
DB DYMONTE THOMAS MARLINGTON HIGH
The 6' 2", 195-pound Thomas played two ways in high school (he was a running back on offense), and coach Brady Hoke describes him as a "very skilled, tough athlete." The coaches really liked Thomas at the nickel this spring, and he may also see time as a standard cornerback.
